Guest Speaker

Mr. Rong lived in China until the age of 15, at which time his family moved to the United States. He shared stories from his childhood and talked to the students about what it was like to grow up during Chairman's Mao's Cultural Revolution.

Vocabulary Bee

Since the beginning of the year, the 6th grade Humanities class has been learning a new word every day. These words come a variety of sources, whether it be from the novel that they are reading or a term that is relative to their study of geography. On May 16th the students assembled in front of the 5th grade class to compete in a vocabulary bee testing their knowledge of every word that we have studied so far this year.

Congratulations to Jonny! Winner of the 2011 6th Grade Vocabulary Bee

Heifer Project Car Wash

This year the 5th and 6th grades teamed up in their effort to combat hunger and poverty throughout the world. Over the course of the spring semester, they organized a number of projects to help raise funds to support their cause, and they chose Heifer International to help administer the funds. On Friday, April 29, the 5th and 6th grades held a car wash in front of the Main Building to raise money for Heifer International. The car wash alone raised close to $600, and over the course of the semester, the students raised $900! Way to go 5th and 6th grade!
