South Africa

Lisa, a TFS upper school math teacher, shared stories about her experience growing up in South Africa. Among the treasures she brought in to show the class are: an original Nelson Mandela campaign poster, an ANC (African National Congress) banner, and some incredibly intricate wire toys.
The students have been reading the novel Chain of Fire about one village's struggle against forced relocation to their "homeland" under Apartheid. It was written in exile by South African writer Beverley Naidoo. Lisa's inspiring talk helped put everything that we have been reading about and learning into perspective.

5th and 6th Grade Team-Building Games

During the last period of the last day before Thanksgiving break,
it seemed out of the question to stay inside, so the 6th grade teamed
up with the 5th grade and headed outdoors for some group games.

Tournament Day in Latin Class

Art of Animation

The students worked on animation projects in Lee's art class.

Research Project Visuals

The 6th grade has spent the past month researching topics related to the novel Stowaway by Karen Hesse. Each student was required to write a 500+ word report on his/her chosen topic, create a visual, and give an oral presentation to the class. Today marked the culmination of all of our hard work as the students shared their projects with one another.
